（1）Title:The personal feeling of learning and research during postgraduate stage

Abstract:Titanium carbide is a kind of ceramic particle with high melting point, high modulus, outstanding hardness, low density ,as well as high chemical stability. At present, TiC is widely used as a reinforcing phase in composites. Meanwhile, TiC particles are the important potential nuclei of α-Al grain. The investigation of growth mode andmorphological controlof TiC crystals has a important significance for the fabrication of effective masteralloys and highperformance composites.In view of the evolution of 3D stereoscopic topography, we studied the growth process of TiC crystal in Al melt, and lay a foundation for the regulation techniques of TiC in alloys. This report will introduce the research process of a new refiner for aluminum alloy and some felling during graduate stage.

（2）Title:The melt fragility and anticorrosion composite materials of novolac-phenolic resin

Abstract:The application of melt fragility in the phenolic-novolac field and its relationship with the glass forming ability had been systematically studied. We also paid much attetion on the improvement of phenolic-novolac properties like to form composite materials by using it. Some kinds of novolac-phenolic composite materials which have the practical application value have been prepared. Meanwhile, speaker will share his understanding of the casting and his experience gained formresearch work.
