Carbon Fibers and their composites are essential strategic materials for the development of space technology and military equipments. They are also widely used as important structural and functional materials in many civil industrial fields including transportation, civil engineering, oil chemistry, and sporting goods. Research activities in this group include investigation of processing technologies and structural evolutions of carbon fibers, simulation of composites processing, design and preparation of silicone, developments of high performance precursor fibers and carbon fibers, industrialization of carbon-fiber reinforced composites, and development of supporting equipments. Financial support of this group come from “973”, “863”, NSFC, military and international funding agencies.
