This group seeks to combine principles of dealloying, chemical synthesis, and surface science to create new types of functional nanomaterials and to study their interfacial properties. Topics of interests include but are not limited to: i) Development of fuel cell catalysts based on nanoporous metals; ii) Chemical synthesis of nanomaterials, in particular, metallic nanostructures; iii) Photocatalytic properties of novel metal/semiconductor nanocomposites; iv) Heterogeneous catalysis based on nanoengineered porous materials; v) Bio- and chemical sensors based on nanoporous metals; vi) Design and fabrication of new drug formulations for targeted controlled release.
